oh, hey there,
We are the faces behind Starfish Stories Publishing!
Meggan Larson (left) is Canadian and lives in Ottawa, Canada with her husband of fifteen years and three fantastic kids. She loves cats, sunrises and sunsets, staring up at the night sky, and daydreaming about the kind of ripple effect helping one person at a time can create.
Lauren da Silva (right) is South African and lives in Waco, Texas (soon to be West Palm Beach, Florida!) with her husband of nearly fourteen years and three beautiful children. She loves cats, chickens, creating community, and deep conversations around campfires.
The heart’s desire behind Starfish Stories Publishing is impact.
Developed around the starfish story, where a woman is tossing washed up starfish back into the ocean as they lay dying on the shore, and someone comes along and scoffs at her. He tells her she can’t possibly make a difference because there are thousands and she’ll never get to them all in time. She picks one up, tosses it back into the water, and says,
“It made a difference to that one.”
Our mission is to create a ripple effect of impact in the world through beautiful storytelling, authentic vulnerability, and inspiring messages of hope and belonging in a world desperate for real connection. Each story published under this brand is a figurative campfire huddle with others, visiting late into the night, sharing lives and stories with one another.
There is something about the warm, inviting glow crackling away amid cold, dark silence that
creates a moment in time as the darkness isolates us from the rest of the world and our real lives, and we feel safe at that moment to lay our soul-selves bare before one another. We wanted this brand to feel like one of those cold fall nights around a campfire with friends, because sharing vulnerably one heart to another, is how we make a difference.
